The Second Hijra of Muslims to Abyssinia, also known as the Second Migration, occurred around 615 AD, during the early days of Islam. It was prompted by the increasing persecution faced by Muslims in Mecca at the hands of the Quraysh tribe. Led by Ja'far ibn Abi Talib, a group of about 83 men and 18 women sought refuge in Abyssinia (modern-day Ethiopia) under the Christian ruler, Negus (also known as Ashama ibn Abjar).
