_39pay-as-you-go-e-bikes-scheme-met-with-scepticism-in-tenby.jpg "Boris-style ‘pay as you go’ E-bikes have been launched in Pembrokeshire towns such as Tenby this month, but the initiative has already been hit with scepticism by members of the public, as well as councillors.<br/>The Pembrokeshire County Council trial scheme will see a fleet of E-bikes provided for members of the public to use for commuting, leisure and local activities; with users will simply able to collect and leave the bikes at a handy series of pick-up and drop-off sites around the towns of Tenby, Haverfordwest, Fishguard and Goodwick.<br/><br/>However, members of the public have had their say already on potential issues that the scheme might bring with it, with some labelling such E-bikes as ‘death traps’.<br/>“This is a very bad idea, imagine all the compensation claims when all the accidents start! Look at the state of the roads, potholes everywhere!” posted one person on social media. Another stated: “God help us pedestrians, ordinary bikes are bad enough, but you don't hear these things coming at speed, when you have limited mobility and are slow you can't get out the way quick enough.”<br/>Others have expressed concerns on the E-bikes being ‘dumped’ on the seaside town’s beaches...and even in the harbour sluice, echoing concerns first raised by Tenby Town Council’s Deputy Mayor Cllr Charles Dale when the idea was first touted to councillors last year.<br/><br/>Cllr Dale told his colleagues that, in principle it was a ‘great idea’ - however, he hoped that it worked out better than in Cardiff, where all the capital city’s bikes appeared to be seemingly stolen or vandalised, leading to the scheme ending.<br/>Ideas for potential locations for the E-bike bays to be cited in Tenby have been seemingly ignored too by PCC’s officers, with none of the suggested locations taken up, according to Tenby Town Council’s clerk Andrew Davies.<br/>“Back in December, when PCC informed us of the pilot they gave us a raft of suggested locations; and we met with Will Davies to get a bit more detail and suggested possible sites,” he said.<br/>“Other than the invite to the launch - that was the last we heard about the scheme.<br/>“None of the suggested Town Council locations have been taken up,” remarked Mr Davies.<br/>Locations the E-bikes are available from, include - North Beach car park; The Glebe; Heywood Lane; Tenby Leisure Centre; Salterns car park; Tenby multi-storey; South Beach car park; and Tenby Railway Station.<br/>One such ‘E-bike bay’ has popped up alongside Tenby’s historic town walls, the importance of which have been highlighted by town councillors in recent years.<br/>Tenby’s County Councillor for the South ward, Cllr Sam Skyrme-Blackhall is none too pleased with the location either, stating: “I do not like the look of the bikes in front of the Town Walls.<br/>“I do have concerns about the scheme in general. I know that they work very well in some places but I am not sure about in Tenby. <br/>“I am especially concerned about them within the Town Walls during pedestrianisation and other busy periods.”")

_92.jpg "A graduate says she’ll “never settle into a full-time job” because she racks up $96k a year from her side hustles - including TikTok, picnic planning, pet-sitting and nannying. <br/><br/>Grace Ryu, 23, quit her full-time job in March 2023 after missing out on a “work-life balance”. <br/><br/>She started trying out freelance work in any industry that took her fancy, like events, content creation and childcare. <br/><br/>Her parents let her live rent-free in their old house since they moved to Korea in October 2023 - allowing Grace to fund her “shopping addiction”, travel and put money into savings. <br/><br/>Grace, a freelancer from Houston, Texas, said: “I want so many different passive streams of income because there’s still so much I want to try - I’ll never go back to a nine-to-five. <br/><br/>“It’s really easy to feel burnt out in a full-time job - I loved working in hospitality and tech sales, but I had no work-life balance.<br/><br/>“I find it much more fun being able to work from wherever I want - but don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely a hustle.”<br/><br/>Grace studied for a major in recreation, park and tourism sciences at Texas A&M University - graduating in December 2021. <br/><br/>She worked a number of jobs while she was studying - including being a ranch hand at a bull farm and working in a restaurant. <br/><br/>Thinking she might settle into a nine-to-five in tourism and hospitality, she picked up more restaurant shifts after uni. <br/><br/>But realising she wanted more downtime - she quit to become a live-in nanny for a family in New York, in summer 2022. <br/><br/>She said: “I decided to become a full-time nanny so I could live in New York for a while. <br/><br/>“But after two months, I decided to come home to Texas - and I still work seasonally as a part-time nanny for that family. <br/><br/>“I wanted to try other things out - and pursue a career related to my major.”<br/><br/>In August 2022, Grace took a job in tech sales - even getting promoted to account manager in January 2023. <br/><br/>She worked there for a total of eight months, deciding to build up streams of income on the side. <br/><br/>“I became a dogwalker, and started creating content,” she said. “I got very ambitious about all these different things, and decided the best time to try them would be while I’m still young. <br/><br/>“Balancing all these different things wasn’t working for me, though - and I was starting to feel burnt out. <br/><br/>“The beauty of working lots of different side hustles is I can do a different job from one day to the next - I love the variety of it.”<br/><br/>In March 2023, Grace started earning income from nine freelance jobs - and she now considers herself a User Generated Content (UGC) creator, influencer, TikTok partner, affiliate marketer, picnic planner, babysitter, dog walker, AirBnB arbiter and digital product seller. <br/><br/>This gives her a total of $96k (£77092.80) per year - and she uses the majority of the money to travel. <br/><br/>She said: “I’m currently living rent-free at my parents’ house - they moved to Korea and left it to me.<br/><br/>\")

One of the most expensive motorways in Asia, it also has one of the highest pillared-bridges in Asia at the Khewra Salt Range section.<br/><br/>There are ten service and rest areas on both sides of the motorway, with fueling, car wash, and car-repair facilities, and fast-food restaurants such as KFC, McDonald's, and Gloria Jean's Coffees, among others.<br/><br/>In 2016, the entire motorway was resurfaced—work that stretched over several months. New toll plazas were installed on every interchange. They are payable with a new M-tag system that was introduced in December 2021.<br/>The M-2 was conceived by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in his first term (1990–1993). The contract was awarded to Daewoo Group of South Korea on 30 December 1991 at a cost of Rs. 23,686 billion on a design-cum-construct basis. The original contract was for a four-lane facility.<br/><br/>Daewoo provided a loan of $379 million as supplier's credit, covering 40% of the construction cost. The loaned amount would eventually grow to $702 million. The other 60% of the cost would be paid by the government.<br/><br/>The motorway was inaugurated on November 26, 1997, during Sharif's second term.In late 2006, upgrades were made to the portion of the M-2 passing through the Salt Range due to increasing complaints of drivers. The upgrades included better marking of the road lines and increased size of road signs for easy visibility.In 2016, the M-2 motorway was resurfaced for a smooth and safer drive.")
